Once again, Andrew Bogut was involved in a Utah basketball blowout. But for the first time, he was on the wrong bench.

Bogut, the top pick in the NBA draft who led the University of Utah to the Sweet 16 last year, wasn't much of a factor in Milwaukee's 100-80 loss to the Jazz Monday.

Bogut finished with eight points and seven rebounds in 21 minutes of work as he spent most of the night in foul trouble.

"I really wanted to come out and play well here, but it didn't really happen," Bogut said with a shrug of his shoulders.

The Australian received a generous ovation from the crowd, which included Utah athletic director Chris Hill, when he made his first appearance with 7:56 remaining in the opening quarter.

"I didn't expect that," he said of the greeting. "It's nice that people in Salt Lake City and in Utah remember me and what I did. I had a great time here, and this was always my first choice, with Milwaukee being my second, so it worked out well."

Once checked in, his stay was short. His first foul came less than two minutes later, then he got his second when he rammed his shoulder into Utah's Mehmet Okur driving to the basket with 2:55 left.

He was replaced by Toni Kukoc and sat until the end of the second quarter, when he picked up his third foul climbing onto the back of Utah's Matt Harpring.

His line for the first half: 7:49 minutes, three rebounds, an assist, three fouls, a turnover and no points.

By the time Bogut entered the second half, with 5:14 left in the third, the game already was decided with the Jazz holding a comfy 68-48 lead.

Bogut at least was better. He threw a nifty pass to T.J. Ford for an easy bucket, got a tip-in that cut Utah's lead to 70-55, and slammed a putback that made it a 74-59 game with a minute left in the third.

He had another dunk, this one on Jarron Collins, early in the fourth quarter, but was pulled a minute later after getting called for reaching in on Utah guard Deron Williams, his fifth foul.

He had another rebound and free throw in the closing minutes.

"He has been doing well, but he is young and is going to have some ups and downs like any rookie," Milwaukee coach Terry Stotts said.

Bogut, averaging 7.5 points and 8.3 rebounds this season, said he wasn't uptight about his first appearance in Utah. The Bucks have been in Salt Lake since losing at Sacramento on Friday, giving Bogut a chance to catch up with former teammates and friends.

"I'm disappointed in how it came out," he said. "We had some good practices, but they came out with more energy. They had that five-game losing streak and they wanted it more."
