Honolulu, Hawaii » Brigham Young basketball coach Dave Rose's 100th win was easier than expected.
Playing late Friday night at Hawaii, the Cougars got 20 points from the ever-reliable Jimmer Fredette and 17 from slump-busting Jonathan Tavernari in an 83-65 rout over the Rainbow Warriors at Stan Sheriff Center.
Rose (100-34) became the fastest coach in program history to 100 wins and the BYU improved to 3-0 in handing Hawaii its second-straight loss.
"We wanted to play this game early in the season because we knew it would be a good test to see how we would respond on the road," Rose said. "The way you win championships is by winning on the road."
Tavernari, who was 7-for-30 in BYU's first two games, wins over Bradley and Idaho State, was 7-for-14 and also grabbed five rebounds.
