Freshman Rodney Williams had 17 points, six rebounds and four steals in his first career start, helping 24th-ranked Minnesota pull away from Utah Valley in the second half of a 76-51 victory on Thursday.

The Gophers were missing top scorer Lawrence Westbrook, and were outrebounded 34-29 the Thunderbirds.

Jordan Swarbick led Utah Valley with 11 points and Tyray Petty had eight points and nine rebounds.

SUU 111, University of the Southwest 51 » Ryan Brimley scored 16 points to lead six Thunderbirds in double figures and every Thunderbird scored and grabbed at least one rebound.

SLCC 71, Southern Idaho 68 » SLCC improved to 6-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play as Darian Norris and Collin Chiverton finished with 19 points and Wil Carter pulled down rebounds on the road.

WSU 78, SUU 41 » Weber State (2-1) hit 13 of 25 shots from 3-point range, including six by Sarah Conner, to run away from Southern Utah (0-3) at the Dee Events Center in Ogden. Connor led Weber with 22 points and Challis Pascucci led the T-Birds with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

No. 1 Union (Tenn.) 93, Westminster 68 » The Griffins lost their second straight game at the Jackson Rotary Classic at Jackson, Tenn. McKenzie Jessop led the Griffins with 20 points and Nicole Yazzie added 12.

USU def. Nevad 3-1 » Sophomore outside hitter Liz McArthur had 21 kills and eight digs to lead Utah State to a four-set win (24-26, 26-24, 25-16, 25-19) to ends its season with a 6-10 mark in the Western Athletic Conference play.
