Utah basketball coach Jim Boylen has been waiting for sophomores Jace Tavita and Jordan Cyphers to show they deserved the increased minutes he wanted to give them this season.

To his relief, they finally came alive Saturday to help the Utes defeat Findlay 83-70 in an exhibition game at the Huntsman Center.

Cyphers had eight points and four rebounds in 13 minutes while Tavita had two points, a block, a steal and an assist in 15 minutes.

The Utes were led by Kim Tillie, who had 18 points and 12 rebounds and Carlon Brown, who had 17 points, five rebounds and four assists.

The Utes did commit 19 turnovers, which Boylen was concerned about, but overall he was happy with the effort.

The Utes open the season Friday against Idaho.
