The Aggies were the second higher seed to fall as top-seeded San Jose State lost to fourth-seeded, 2-1, in overtime. Utah State ends with its fourth-straight 10-win season.
UVU 6, Delaware State 1 » Junior Katey Turner scored two goals and assisted on two others to carry Utah Valley to a quarter final win in the Great West Conference Soccer Tournament at Newark, N.J. The Wolverines (7-10-1) will now face Howard today at 5 p.m. MT.
Women's basketball
Four players scored in double figures as Utah women's basketball team defeated Division II Chadron State, 81-40, in exhibition on Friday at the Huntsman Center. Kalee Whipple and Janita Badon each had 17 points to lead the Utes. Halie Sawyer had a double-double with 12 points and 19 rebounds. Freshman Taryn Wicijowski tallied 13 points with nine rebounds.
BYU 85, Westminster 58 » The BYU women's basketball team won easily wonits first game of the 2009-10 season in an exhibition against the Griffins, Friday. The Cougars opened a 15-4 lead after the first eight minutes of play. BYU's Haley Hall finished with 14 points and six rebounds to lead all players.
Mens'
Davis Baker scored 20 points and Dallin Bachynski came offthe bench to chip in 14 as Southern Utah dominated the second half in taking71-56 exhibition win over Adams State on Friday night at Cedar City.
