By the looks of the club-like splint and wrap protecting his right foot, Ryan Harris is going to be out a while.

The Broncos' starting right tackle suffered a serious injury to the two small toes on his right foot early in the second quarter of the Baltimore's 30-7 win Sunday.

"We'll see," Harris said about the extent of the injury.

He hobbled to the team bus on crutches. With Harris out, Tyler Polumbus played the final three quarters at right tackle.

"He played fine," Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton said of Polumbus. "He came in and did his job."

Either Polumbus or veteran tackle Brandon Gorin will likely start at right tackle next Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Invesco Field.

In addition to Harris' toe injury, the Broncos will evaluate safeties David Bruton and Darcel McBath today. Both suffered leg injuries.

Fines dropped

As a sign of good faith, the Broncos decided to drop the fines star receiver Brandon Marshall incurred during preseason, according to an NFL source.

Marshall had been suspended for the final nine days of the preseason for conduct detrimental to the team. The suspension was to cost Marshall $1,832 in per diem money, plus an undisclosed fine that the Broncos levied internally. Fines of that nature can range from $5,000 to $25,000.

Foxworth flagged

Marshall was held to four catches for 24 yards against the Ravens, although he did draw a 39-yard pass interference penalty from former teammate Domonique Foxworth on the Broncos' only touchdown drive.

On the penalty, it appeared Marshall warded off Foxworth with his left arm, but it was the Ravens cornerback who drew the flag.

"You know how it is in this league -- they hate us in the secondary," Foxworth said. "I've got to get used to it. I thought you at least had the right to your own space. He gave me a straight-arm to the chest, and I tried to pull it off my chest and I got a flag. It hurt."

More Domonique

Foxworth lost to his former team with Atlanta last season. So was it sweet to have beaten the team that selected him in the third round of the 2005 draft?

"If I had a traditional experience in Denver, I think I would have had a little extra fire in me," he said. "But I have so much love for that city, and going through what we went through with Darrent, I feel so close to them. I don't know if they feel the same about me, but there's no animosity on my part."

Foxworth was referring to his close friend Darrent Williams , the Broncos cornerback who was slain in a drive-bye shooting hours after the final game of the 2006 season.
