Jazz: A.K. to start on Ariza in Game 3; Okur out
With Trevor Ariza having hit 6 of 7 three-pointers in the first two games of this first-round series, Jazz coach Jerry Sloan will start Andrei Kirilenko in Thursday night's Game 3 in the hopes of slowing the Lakers forward.
"Ariza's had great runs here on us in the games," Sloan said. "I thought I'd tried to start Andrei and see what happens. We'll go from there."
The Jazz will continue to be without Mehmet Okur, who has struggled to get back on the court since straining his right hamstring April 13. Kyle Korver, meanwhile, will resume coming off the bench with Kirilenko starting.
"I think Kyle has been in a situation where he's started for us only a couple games," Sloan said. "I think his play has been better for him as he comes off the bench. I tried that, and I'm going to go a different direction this time."
With no team ever having come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a series, Carlos Boozer summed up the importance of Wednesday's game for the Jazz.
"It's a must-win," Boozer said. "We're down 0-2. For us, this is the biggest game of our season, to win tonight and get back in the series."
