Mixed martial arts: Utahn's UFC fight out of TV slot

Orem native Derek Downey's fight in Saturday's UFC Fight Night 17 is no longer guaranteed a spot on the live broadcast.

Downey stepped in to replace "The Ultimate Fighter" winner Amir Sadollah in a fight that was slated to air live on Spike TV. Now that Sadollah is out, Downey's battle with Nick Catone will move to the undercard.

The fight still could make the live broadcast if it is exciting and there is enough time to fit it in. If it doesn't air live, the preliminary fights generally are available for free at UFC.com some time after the event is over.
