Former Utah Blaze head coach Danny White was signed as the offensive coordinator for the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League on Wednesday. It is expected that quarterback Joe Germaine, who opted out of his Blaze contract, will also sign with the Rattlers once the league's free-agent signing period begins.

The original free agent signing deadline was Wednesday, but with the folding of the New Orleans Voodoo, the league has pushed back the deadline to an unspecified date.

White, a native of Mesa, Ariz., returns to the team he led to two AFL championships. White spent the last three seasons with Utah as the team's first head coach. In three seasons together with the Blaze, Germaine and White had a 21-30 overall record with an 0-3 playoff mark.

White was the Arizona head coach between 1992 and 2004 and led the team to five Arena Bowls and two Arena Football League championships during that span.

"I'm looking forward to being back home and working with the team and the Rattlers organization," White said at a news conference. "The Rattlers have assembled a very exciting team and front office, and I believe have all the tools to compete for a championship."

One year after signing the longest contract in the history of the AFL, Germaine has exercised an option in his contract that linked his future with White's and decided to pursue free agency.
