LOGAN - Logan and Morgan met Friday in what could turn out to be the Region 10 bout of the year.

Both teams played like heavyweights into the fourth quarter as Morgan and Logan traded blows, but Morgan prevailed 28-21 in a hard-fought upset road win.

Logan was the top-ranked team in Class 3A entering the game, and Morgan was ranked fifth. The Grizzlies showed few chinks in their armor before the loss.

"I'm just stunned", said Morgan running back Jacob Kinsey after the win. "Our team confidence is way up; we just beat the defending state champs."

Kinsey has a lot to be confident about.

The Trojan offense came out and marched down the field, controlling the ball and racking up 368 rushing yards.

Kinsey could claim the credit for 166 of those yards, including a thrilling 57-yard fourth-quarter touchdown run that ultimately won the game.

The Trojans did not look like an underdog team on the road.

They started off the night strong, scoring on their first two possessions. But Logan, acting like state champs, battled back and held a 21-20 lead by the end of the third, thanks to a blocked extra point.

The fourth quarter belonged to the Morgan defense.

After Kinsey's touchdown run, the Trojans managed to hold the high-scoring Logan offense to only 33 yards, sealing the win.

It was a win that was anything but assured for Morgan.

"When you play Logan, Mike Favero is about as good as they get, so we had a lot of game planning to do," Morgan coach Kovi Christensen said. "We knew we had to get this to be in contention for the region title."
