It could have been the turning point in the game. It could have shifted the momentum for Skyline and put the pressure on Alta.

The Eagles were down by two touchdowns but looked like they would score as they moved the ball 47 yards and were sitting at Alta's 5-yard line. On the next play, Alta forced a fumble and Garret Smart returned it 96 yards for a touchdown. The game was never close after that and the Hawks beat Skyline 45-21 on the Eagles' field Friday.

"We didn't want to give Skyline any hope," said Alta quarterback Ammon Olsen, who completed 10 of 14 passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns. "Our defense is amazing and when the defense scores, it doesn't give Skyline momentum."

The Hawks had the momentum from the start. Alta scored on its first three drives and had a 21-0 lead at the beginning of the second quarter.

Skyline had a spark when quarterback Kevin Wagstaff ran right up the middle for a 63-yard touchdown. But, the Eagles wouldn't find themselves in the endzone again until the fourth quarter.

"I thought we were prepared, but we really couldn't get on track," Skyline coach Roger DuPaix said. "That fumble took the wind out of our sails and Alta just executed and came to play."

The Eagles' best offensive quarter was the fourth when they got touchdowns from Marc Taufa and Casey Taylor.
