And another player from Texas.
The 6-foot-1 Henderson is a star at L.D. Bell High School in suburban Dallas, having averaged 24.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and more than four steals and assists per game for a 15-15 team last season - in addition to making more than 100 three-pointers in each of his first three high school seasons. His father and coach, Willie Henderson, said he chose the Utes over offers from Gonzaga, Bradley, Marquette, Notre Dame and Stanford.
"It was just the total package, overall," the elder Henderson said.
Boylen promised when he was hired last year he would recruit Texas, where he spent 11 years as an assistant with the NBA's Houston Rockets, and already had landed guard Chris Hines from Klein Forest High School in Houston. Hines has enrolled in summer classes at the university and will join the team for next season.
Henderson is the second 2009 recruit to give Boylen an oral commitment, following 6-10 center Jeremy Olsen of suburban Atlanta. The Utes have two spots remaining in their 2009 recruiting class, and they're still pursuing Lone Peak's Tyler Haws, among others.
Henderson "believes Utah will be a Top 25 team every year," his father said. "We think that's just a matter of time."
