The West Coast Conference announced Thursday a three-year contract extension with Orleans Arena to keep the WCC men's and women's basketball championships there through 2019.

"I am very excited the West Coast Conference and Orleans Arena will be continuing our partnership through the 2019 championships," said WCC Commissioner Lynn Holzman in a press release. "Our vision is to create an event which serves as a celebration of the West Coast Conference, its traditions and values while our student-athletes are on a national stage competing for a berth in the NCAA Championship."

As part of the contract extension, the arena will be renovated with a new video board and LED lighting, and The Orleans Hotel will also be renovated.

BYU fell to eventual tournament champion Gonzaga in the semifinals of the 2016 WCC tournament. The BYU women's team fell to San Francisco in the 2016 conference tournament title game.

The WCC announcement comes after the Pac-12 announced in March it would move its 2017 tournament from the MGM Arena to the newly opened T-Mobile Arena.
