It appears that BYU has found a strength and conditioning coach to replace Jay Omer, who retired after the Miami Beach Bowl.

The Denton Record-Chronicle reported Tuesday night that Frank Wintrich, who has been the director of football performance at the University of North Texas, will join the BYU staff.

BYU had not confirmed the hiring as of Wednesday mid-morning.

Wintrich has been at UNT for four years. The former All-America linebacker at Kentucky Wesleyan has also worked at South Florida, The Citadel, Utah State and Arizona State. While at USU, he became acquainted with BYU linebackers coach Kelly Poppinga.

The newspaper's report mentions that Wintrich had passed opportunities to leave UNT for other schools in the past.

Wintrich made $103,000 as North Texas' strength coach in 2014 according to these figures compiled by Brett Vito of the Record-Chronicle.
