While most of the BYU football players are set to enjoy Thanskgiving tomorrow (the Cougars will practice in the morning, then get the afternoon and evening off), big offensive lineman De'Ondre Wesley, has other things on his mind.

Namely, Wesley is scavenging for tickets to Saturday's BYU-at-California football game.

The 6-foot-7, 330-pound Wesley grew up in Antioch, which is just 36 miles away from Berkeley, where the Cougars and Bears will meet at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The game will be televised by the Pac-12 network.

Wesley is expecting "a lot of family and friends" at the game, and he's spent the past few weeks begging his teammates for spare tickets. Generally, players get four tickets per away game.

Wesley's personality is as big as his frame.

Asked Monday if Cal recruited him out of Diablo Valley Community College in Pleasant Hill, Calif., Wesley shook his head.

"No, I don't think I was on their radar," he said. "They kinda regret it, probably."

Wesley showed up for his interview wearing an Oakland Raiders beanie and a San Francisco T-shirt. He took some teasing about that because the Raiders recently won their first game of the season, but the big guy said he's been a Raiders fan his whole life and wears the stocking cap everywhere he goes — not just because they finally won.

Wesley said Cal will play inspired football on Saturday because it is trying to become bowl eligible, and BYU needs to match that intensity.

"They play really hard, like an energized team. They go out and hustle to the ball, especially their defense. They don't quit, and especially since they are fighting for a bowl game, they will definitely play us really hard," he said.
