Kaleb Cowart and Rafael Ortega had two hits and an RBI on Friday night, leading Salt Lake to a 4-3 victory over El Paso. In front of 9,650 fans at Smith's Ballpark, the Bees won their second straight game over the Chihuahuas, who came to Utah with the best record in the PCL.

Turning Point • El Paso owned a 2-1 lead before Salt Lake scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning. Sherman Johnson drove in the tying run with a one-out single. He scored to make it 3-2 on Ryan Jackson's infield out.

Bees MVP • Catcher Anthony Bemboom entered hitting .257. But he went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. He scored the tying run in the fifth. He made it 4-2 in the sixth with a run-producing line drive into the right field corner.

Hidden Hero • Temporarily out of starters, manager Keith Johnson used five relief pitchers in the win. Javy Guerra provided a big lift. He allowed two hits but held the Chihuahuas scoreless over 21⁄3 innings.

Flashing Leather • Leading off the fifth inning, El Paso's Austin Hedges ripped a long fly to center field. But Salt Lake's Quintin Berry raced back and made a spectacular running catch on the warning track.

Angel Angle • After Angels' first baseman C.J. Cron was hit by a pitch and broke his hand in Friday night's game at Baltimore, Salt Lake's Ji-Man Choi was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the third inning. Presumably, he has been recalled.

What's next • Saturday: El Paso (Daniel McCutchen, 8-5) vs. Salt Lake (Kyle McGowin, 4-5), 7:05 p.m. —
