Kaleb Cowart went 4-for-4 and Nick Buss hit a tiebreaking home run with two out during the seventh inning Friday night, leading Salt Lake to an 8-6 win over Albuquerque. In front of 6,369 fans at Smith's Ballpark, the Bees won their seventh consecutive game.

Turning point • After the Isotopes took a 6-2 lead in the top of the sixth, Salt Lake responded with four runs to put themselves right back in the game. Juan Graterol, who had hit a home run earlier, had a two-run single during the comeback.

Bees' MVP • Cowart singled twice, doubled twice, scored twice and drove in two runs. During a four-game sweep of Albuquerque, he went 7-for-12 with four RBIs.

Hidden hero • Salt Lake's Todd Cunningham, who is normally an outfielder, played third base for the first time in his professional career. He handled four chances without committing an error.

Flashing leather • With two out in the fourth inning, Albuquerque outfielder Brandon Barnes took a triple away from Sherman Johnson with a spectacular diving catch in deep left center field.

Quoteworthy • Asked if he was trying to go deep so late in a game that was tied, Buss said, "At that point … maybe I'm slightly more aggressive than I'd normally be. But, ultimately, you're just looking for a good pitch to hit."

Angel angle • After the Angels designated pitcher Javy Guerra for assignment and put infielder Cliff Pennington on the disabled list, they recalled Salt Lake infielders Gregorio Petit and Jefry Marte.

History lesson • On May 13, 1994, Marty Cordova hit for the first cycle in franchise history during Salt Lake's 9-7 win at Las Vegas. It was his second game after an eight-week stay on the injured list (broken wrist).

What's Next • Saturday: Salt Lake (Kyle Kendrick, 2-1) at Colorado Springs (Jorge Lopez, 0-2), 6:05 p.m. —
