The host El Paso Chihuahuas hit two home runs and beat the Salt Lake Bees 5-2 on Sunday to complete a three game sweep of the Pacific Coast League series.
Salt Lake took a 1-0 lead on a leadoff homer in the second inning by Jefry Marte, but El Paso's Jabari Blash answered that in the bottom of the second with an inning opening home run of his own. El Paso took the lead for good in the third, as Rocky Gale led off with a single and scored when Franchy Cordero lifted a 1-0 pitch from Bees starter Alex Meyer over the center-field wall.
The Chihuahuas added single runs in the fifth and seventh innings before the Bees closed out the scoring with an RBI double by Rey Navarro in the top of the ninth inning.
Meyer (0-1), who was making his first start for Salt Lake since April 27 after an extended stretch with the Angels, went five innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on three hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.
Navarro led the Bees with two hits and one run batted in, while Shane Robinson singled in the third inning to extend his hitting streak to eleven games. Carlos Perez stretched his streak to nine games with a sixth inning single, but Ramon Flores went 0 for 4 to snap his seventeen game hitting streak, which was the longest by a Salt Lake batter this season. This series marked the second time this season that the Bees have been swept. The other series was a four game set in Reno May 2-5.
