Utah's gymnastics team didn't take long to fill its coaching vacancy, announcing Robert Ladanyi as a new assistant coach.
He replaces Meredith Paulicivic, who is leaving the program after two seasons to become the coach at Ohio State.
Ladanyi assisted at Florida from 2006 to 2015 and spent the last two years as an assistant at Denver.
He also is the former coach of the Romanian Junior National Team.
Ladanyi was a part of three NCAA title teams from 2013 to 2015 and was named the Southeast Region co-assistant coach of the year in 2011, 2013 and 2015 at Florida. He also coached three individual champions in Florida's Alaina Johnson (2013, uneven bars), Bridget Sloan (2014, uneven bars) and Denver's Nina McGee (2016, floor).
"He is an outstanding coach with a championship pedigree and will be a wonderful addition to our staff," Utah co-coach Tom Farden said in a statement. "He helped Florida win three NCAA team titles, and Denver had its best season in school history this past year [finishing ninth]. Megan [Marsden] and I have watched him over the years and believe he has a lot to offer."
Ladanyi was a member of the Romanian National Team before retiring at the age of 19. He coached at several clubs in addition to coaching the Romanian Junior National Team from 1994 to 1997 before joining the college ranks.
"I'm very excited to join the University of Utah staff, and I'm looking forward to starting as soon as possible," Ladanyi said in a release. "I can't wait to be a part of the Utah gymnastics program and look forward to the challenge of competing for a national championship."
