The El Paso Chihuahuas scored five runs in the second inning and avoided a sweep with a 5-2 victory over visiting Salt Lake on Sunday.

The Bees' Parker Bridwell (2-2) lasted 12⁄3 innings, allowing five runs on four hits and four walks, including an RBI single by former Bee Rafael Ortega, in the second in his first start for Salt Lake after picking up a win on Wednesday for the Angels in his first major league start.

The Salt Lake bullpen kept it close, as Manny Banuelos (3.1 IP) and Eduardo Paredes (3 IP) combined for 61⁄3 scoreless innings, but the Bees bats couldn't come up with the big hit. Salt Lake's two runs came on solo homers by Kaleb Cowart and Jefry Marte. The Bees had several other opportunities to score, but left twelve runners on base, eight of them in scoring position. Six of those eight reached scoring position with less than two outs. The Bees now come home for their longest homestand of the season with eleven games in the next twelve days.
