Utah baseball: Six Utes earn All-Pac 12 honors

Led by All-Pac-12 selections Dallas Carroll, DaShawn Keirsey, Jr., and Jayson Rose, six Utah baseball players earned all-conference honors, the conference announced Thursday.

It is the second straight season that Carroll, Keirsey and Rose have been selected to the All-Pac-12 team, which is selected by the league's coaches.

Carroll was one of the best hitters in the Pac-12 this season, and through the regular season ranked fourth in the league in batting average (.369) and RBI (52) while ranking second in slugging percentage (.591) and on-base percentage (.465).

Keirsey finished tied for third in the conference in triples (five) and ranked 11th in the league in hits (71). He hit .327 on the year and ranked second on the team in runs scored (39) and stolen bases (nine).

Rose finished tied for fourth in the Pac-12 with eight wins. His 82 strikeouts ranked seventh in the league and he was 11th with a 3.35 earned run average. Rose held opponents to a .241 batting average, which ranked ninth in the Pac-12.

Carroll and Keirsey were both named to the All-Defensive Team. Keirsey was also named to the team last season.

Earning honorable mention honors was senior pitcher Dylan Drachler, senior shortstop Ellis Kelly and senior first baseman Hunter Simmons. It is the second-straight season that Drachler has earned honorable mention honors. He was tied for sixth in the Pac-12 with five saves. Kelly made just two errors all season at the shortstop position, hitting .294. Simmons hit .307 with a .387 on-base percentage and was second on the team with 32 RBI.
