Kaysville • Alta junior forward Jett Sollis made a dramatic run to the goal and buried his perfect shot in the second overtime Tuesday.

And now the Hawks are headed to the Class 4A boys' soccer championship game at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Sollis' goal with 5 minutes, 59 seconds left in the second overtime session lifted Alta past Box Elder 2-1. The Hawks erased a one-goal deficit in the game's final minutes to send the game to overtime, setting the stage for Sollis' heroics.

Sollis raced into the Bees' 18-yard box, ran onto a pass from midfielder Nick Lowrimore and cut back toward Bees goalkeeper Rustin Lamb's net.

"Nick's a creator on that wing, and when he gives that ball to me, he expects me to do something with it," Sollis said. "I was able to beat that guy on the outside and cut in on him. "

Even with a Box Elder defender draped on him, Sollis fired a clean shot at Lamb, who had been spectacular for the Bees.

"The keeper was leaning the opposite direction, and I put it near post," Sollis said. "I saw a sliver of goal, I thought I hit it kind of wrong and I watched it go in. Exciting moment."

The Hawks had to erase Box Elder's lead, which they held since the game's opening minute, just to get to overtime.

Bees midfielder Levi Port rose above a crowded goal box and headed home a cross off a free kick from 35 yards away from goal 24 seconds into the match.

Alta controlled much of the possession and dictated the game's flow for the duration of the match but could not beat Lamb ... or his goal posts.

The Hawks twice hit the posts at either side of the Bees' goal and numerous close chances came up empty after quality runs and possessions.

Five yellow cards were given and frequent stoppages for penalties slowed the rhythm but failed to deter Alta's attack.

Jack Anderson finally banged home a loose ball in a scramble near the Bees' goal box to tie the game with 7:17 left in regulation.

Box Elder forward Trevan Watson nearly retook the lead with a header with 4:30 left, but was the attempt failed to find the back of the net.

"We fought and we battled to get it to double overtime, and if we get a couple foul calls to go our way maybe things change," Box Elder coach Nate Bywater said. "They kept us in our half and they moved the ball really well. They're a quality team, which you'd expect at this stage of the playoffs." —
