After an hour-plus rain delay and then five no-hit innings from Omaha pitcher Luke Farrell, the Salt Lake Bees staged a late rally and overtook the Storm Chasers in the eighth for a 5-3 win Monday night.

A two-run single to left by Rey Navarro broke a 3-3 deadlock in the eighth by scoring both Carlos Perez and Kaleb Cowart, who had each singled ahead of Navarro.

Turning Point • Until Sherman Johnson reached Farrell with a single to center in the sixth, the only three Bees on base during the game had all reached on walks. Over the next two innings, Salt Lake scored three runs and chased Farrell from the game.

Bees MVP • Perez, in addition to starting the tie-breaking rally in the eighth, had the big hit in the sixth when the Bees finally got to Farrell. After a walk to Nolan Fontana and Johnson's hit in a 3-0 game, Perez drove a hit into center to score two runs.

Hidden Hero • With Perez at second and Cowart at first in the eighth, Dustin Ackley — after bunting one pitch into the stands for a foul ball — laid down a perfect sacrifice along the third-base line to advance both.

Tagged out • Both teams were opportunistic, but each side saw runners get caught while trying to snag an extra base — six times total, three for each squad. Part of that number were two Storm Chasers trying to steal second and one for the Bees doing the same.

Angel Angle • C.J. Cron, on a rehab assignment from the bigs, did not play Monday after getting hit on his wrist by a pitch on Sunday. Pitcher Damien Magnifico, acquired from the Orioles organization via trade over the weekend, was available but did not pitch for the Bees.

What's next • The finale of the four-game home set against the Storm Chasers will take place at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday at Smith's Ballpark. Manny Banuelos (2-3, 6.75) is expected to start for the Bees while Eric Skoglund (1-2, 4.01) is slated to pitch for Omaha. —
