Sandy • The name. The price tag. The accompanying expectation. That all encompasses what Yura Movsisyan knows comes along with the territory of being a highly-paid Designated Player in Major League Soccer.

Yes, the 29-year-old striker knows turning around Real Salt Lake's rough start to the year begins with him as the focal point of a hot-and-cold attack.

But the forward says it doesn't matter how many goals he scores. RSL, as a whole, must find different ways to make every player on the field more dangerous.

"We've got plenty of guys that are getting chances," Movsisyan said last week. "This is not just about Yura and scoring. Yeah, obviously, I have to score, but it's about the whole team. We've got to score as a team. We've got 11 players — just like we have to defend as 11 players, we've got to score as 11 players."

Entering this weekend, Movsisyan had four goals in RSL's first nine matches. Prior to the match against FC Dallas, RSL had only four goal-scorers this year in Movsisyan, Albert Rusnák, Luke Mulholland and Brooks Lennon. In order to improve, RSL needs more than just the stars in order to right the ship.

"We need different guys to step up and score goals," Movsisyan said.

A new-look back line

For the first time in over a month, Aaron Maund returned to the RSL starting lineup. The 26-year-old center back missed the last four matches due to a hamstring injury picked up in RSL's 4-2 loss at Minnesota United on April 1. Maund played 60 minutes for Real Monarchs in his return from injury.

"Fitness-wise, I think he's in a good spot," RSL coach Mike Petke said Friday. "He's getting his sharpness back. He's eager to get out there if he's called upon."

Rookie Justin Schmidt returned to the starting lineup alongside Maund. The second-round draft pick has started three matches in 2017. Veteran Chris Wingert moved to right back to play in place of Danny Acosta, who started the previous four matches on the right side of the back line.

More changes

A calf injury held out a reunion between former teammates and close friends Kyle Beckerman and Javier Morales on Saturday night. Beckerman's calf injury has now kept him out of back-to-back matches. Joao Plata, who was disciplined by Petke for missing a flight back to Salt Lake City, was displaced in the starting lineup by Sebastian Saucedo.
