Establishing an early lead, the Salt Lake Bees withstood one threat from the Omaha Storm Chasers and then had little trouble the rest of the way in securing a 5-2 Pacific Coast League win Saturday night.

Troy Scribner pitched five innings to get the win for the Bees, who have won all five times that Scribner has started. Greg Mahle and Eduardo Paredes each worked scoreless innings in relief, along with Justin Miller — who retired the Chasers in the ninth in order for the save.

Turning Point • Matt Williams tagged a pitch by Omaha's Josh Staumont to right-center in the second for a triple. That scored Shane Robinson, who had been hit by a pitch, and Sherman Johnson, who had singled, for a 2-0 lead.

Bees MVP • Williams also drove in a run in the fourth by zipping a single past Omaha second baseman Ramon Torres. In the seventh inning, Williams completed a 3-for-3 day with a hit to left.

Hidden Hero • Eric Young Jr. gave Salt Lake an extra insurance run in the seventh by tagging a Kevin McCarthy pitch over the right-field fence for a homer.

Flashing Leather • Bo Way, fighting a swirling wind, tracked down a deep drive to center by Omaha's Paulo Orlando in the fourth. In the eighth, Bees first baseman Johnson thwarted a hard hit by Raul Mondesi Jr. by stabbing at the ball to his right and then stepping on first.

Quoteworthy • "Early on, he (Staumont) was going away until I proved I could hit it that way," said right-handed Williams, who went to right for his first two hits. "Then he busted his fastball in. He goes from mid- to upper-90s and was showing that high fastball late. Luckily, I had some good counts and didn't have to battle much."

Angel Angle • The Angels acquired right-handed reliever Damien Magnifico from the Orioles in exchange for right-hander Jordan Kipper. Magnifico, a fifth-round pick for the Mets in 2009, was optioned to Salt Lake.

What's next • The Bees, who moved to 16-14 on the season, continue their series with the Storm Chasers with a 1:05 p.m. start Sunday at Smith's Ballpark. —
