BYU's softball team hit three home runs and Aris Paulson pitched a six-hitter in the Cougars' 10-1, five-inning victory against the University of San Diego on Friday night in West Coast Conference action.

Caitlyn Alldredge homered twice for BYU and Rylee Jensen homered once for the Cougars (36-10, 9-0 WCC). Paulson struck out four and walked one in improving to 8-3 this season.

Utah State opener postponed • In Logan, due to snow and rain, Utah State's series opener against San Diego State, scheduled for Friday afternoon, will be part of a doubleheader Saturday. There will be a break in between games for Utah State's Senior Day celebrations.

Baseball

Washington State 10, Utah 1 • In Salt Lake City, the Utes' five-game win streak was snapped by the Cougars on Friday afternoon.

Utah (19-18, 9-11 Pac-12) trailed 1-0 entering the sixth, Washington State (19-21, 5-12) erupted for seven runs on seven hits in the frame.

The Utes had two hits on the day, coming from Hunter Simmons and Ellis Kelly, while Dallas Carroll drove in Utah's lone run of the game.

Riley Ottesen threw 51⁄3 innings, allowing eight runs on nine hits, falling to 4-2 on the year. He also had two pickoffs. Josh Tedeschi threw 22⁄3 hitless innings.

Utah Valley leads 6-0 when game halted • In Greeley, Colo., the series opener between Utah Valley and Northern Colorado was halted in the top of the eighth because of snow. The teams will attempt to finish the game starting at 2 p.m. MDT Saturday, with snow in the forecast.

The Wolverines built the lead behind a five-run fifth inning and 61⁄3 innings of one-hit, shutout baseball by Jackson Cofer. He struck out seven and retired the side in order in the first, third and fifth and left with one out in the seventh. David Modler had three hits, including a double, for the Wolverines.

Southern Nevada 7, Salt Lake Community College 2 • In Henderson, Nev., Bruins (21-17) starting pitcher Braden DeLam gave up six runs in one inning of work, two in the first and four in the second before getting an out against the Coyotes (35-11).

Men's golf

Utah Valley in second • In Meas, Ariz., Cedric Laverdure shot an even par 71 to lead the Wolverines to an 11-over-par 295, five strokes behind leader Seattle University, in the first round of the WAC championships. Laverdure was tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard.

Southern Utah in sixth • In Boulder City, Nev., freshman Ali Hameed shot a 4-over 76 in windy conditions to lead the Thunderbirds to sixth place after the first round of the Big Sky championship. Hameed was tied for seventh.

Beach volleyball

Utah teams ousted • In Tucson, Ariz., junior Adora Anae and freshman Dani Barton competing as the No. 9 seed, took the first set 21-13 from No. 8-seeded Elisa Zappia and Torrey Van Winden from UCLA. The Bruins forced a third set by taking the second set 21-18 and won the third 15-11.

The Utah pair of junior Carly Trueman and freshman Bailey Choy, playing as the 17 seed in the tournament, was swept by Cal's No. 16-seeded Grace Campbell and Nicole Anderson, 21-10, 22-20.

Track & Field

Flint wins shot put title • In Provo, Utah State sophomore Brenn Flint captured her second shot put title of the season with a mark of 48 feet, 5 inches at the BYU-hosted Clarence Robison Invitational.

Flint led a trio of Aggie women throwers who placed in the top four of the shot put. Junior Olivia Moriconi finished second with a mark of 48-2, while freshman Maia Garren took fourth with a heave of 45-71/4.

Women's tennis

Gonzaga 4, BYU 0 • In Claremont, Calif., No. 6 seed BYU (9-14) fell to No. 2 Gonzaga (17-3) in the semifinals of the West Coast Conference tournament.

UNLV 4, Utah State 0 • In Las Vegas, Utah State (13-11, 2-3 MW) ended its season against UNLV (17-7, 4-1) in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Championship. Junior Sabrina Demerath set a new single-season record with her 23rd doubles win of the season.

Men's tennis

Utah State 4, Boise State 0 • In Boise, Idaho, the Aggies (21-8, 6-1 MW) won their quarterfinal match in the conference tournament.
