The Bees won their third straight and have now won 11 of 12 after a 13-5 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas in the first game of a five-game series in front of an announced 2,382 at Smith's Ballpark on Thursday night.

The Bees (14-7) collected 13 runs on 16 hits, their 10th consecutive game with at least 10 hits. Rey Navarro (three hits), Bo Way (three hits), Nolan Fontana (two hits), Sherman Johnson (two hits), Ramon Flores (two hits) and Eric Young Jr. (two hits) all had multi-hit games.

Turning Point • The Bees took the lead for good with a two-run sixth inning. Navarro's two-run single with two outs gave the Bees a 7-5 lead.

Bees MVP • Navarro went 3-for-5 with four RBIs.

Hidden Hero • Way went 3-for-4 with a run scored, a sacrifice, three RBIs and an outfield assist.

Flashing Leather • In the fourth inning, Way made a catch in deep right field and then rifled a throw to third base to cut down Nick Buss attempting to tag up and advance from second.

Quoteworthy • Navarro on facing El Paso relief pitcher Carter Capps' funky delivery featuring a hop toward the plate: "It's super weird because, you know, you're used to seeing normal pitchers. Sometimes they go faster. Sometimes they've got a big leg kick. But no jumping out of the rubber and throwing from, I don't know, from the side of the arm. It's just the matter of the timing."

Angel Angle • Bees starting pitcher Alex Meyer made his first start since joining the Angels for a spot start in the majors on April 21. Meyer provided an extra day of rest for the Angels starters by filling in. Thursday night, he allowed five runs on eight hits and two walks. He also struck out six.

What's next • The Bees continue their five-game series against El Paso on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Smith's Ballpark. —
