Los Angeles • Rodney Hood's role didn't change with Quin Snyder's decision to bring him off the bench and insert Joe Ingles into the starting lineup.

Snyder still wants Hood to be aggressive offensively. He still considers Hood a critical part of what the Jazz do on both ends of the floor, and if the Jazz are to advance past the Los Angeles Clippers, Hood will need to have a significant part in that.

"Nothing has changed for him," Snyder said. "About the only thing that's changed a bit is the people that he's on the floor with at times."

Hood played 14 first-half minutes against the Clippers on Tuesday night, splitting the wing minutes three ways with Ingles and Gordon Hayward.

He shot 2 of 5 from the field, scoring five points. The Jazz probably needed him to be more aggressive. He passed up a few open looks at the basket, which has long been a bug-a-boo with him.

Snyder said he originally made the switch because he wants to monitor Hood's minutes, with Hood not far removed from missing a chunk of games because of a knee bruise. So bringing him off the bench, Snyder said, makes sense, if he had to limit Hood's time because of any lingering pain.

Hood — who has been the starter at shooting guard for much of the season —said it's a little more difficult to find a rhythm coming off the bench. But the Jazz have made such a concerted effort to keep him engaged as a sub, he hasn't seen much of a difference.

"My role didn't change, I still have to do the same thing. I have to be aggressive offensively and defensively, so nothing is different."

He's back

Jazz point guard Raul Neto was available for the first time since suffering a sprained ankle against the Portland Trail Blazers. Shelvin Mack remained the backup point guard.

Suiting up

Because Rudy Gobert missed Game 2, Jazz rookie Joel Bolomboy was placed on the active roster. The power forward from Weber State was inactive in Game 1. Snyder made the move because he needed another big man, in case of foul trouble. In somewhat of a surprise move, shooting guard Alec Burks was made inactive.
