The Salt Lake Bees won their first home game of the season, 4-1, over the Sacramento River Cats on Wednesday night in Smith's Ballpark. Bees third baseman Kaleb Cowart went 2 for 4 with an RBI single, while Rey Navarro hit a three-run home run. Starting pitcher Manny Banuelos allowed one run on seven hits and three walks in five-plus innings.

Turning Point • The Bees scored all four of their runs in the fifth inning. A leadoff double by Williams and a sacrifice bunt by Eric Young Jr. set up Cowart's RBI single for the game's first run. Three batters later with two outs, Navarro drilled a three-run home run to left.

Bees MVP • Navarro went 1 for 4, but his three-run home run provided the margin of victory.

Hidden Hero • Jose Valdez pitched two scoreless innings of relief and matched a career high with five strikeouts. He allowed two hits and didn't walk a batter in two innings.

Flashing Leather • Williams made a diving snare at shortstop to start a 6-4-3 double play in the top of the second inning. The play proved crucial one batter later as a runner reached on a fielding error. The Bees had four double plays in the game.

Quoteworthy • "Tonight was a huge outing by Banuelos. We really needed that with our bullpen as stretched out as they've been. For him to come in and get us that deep in the game then Valdez — I can't say enough about how he's been throwing the ball this year. Austin [Adams] came in and finished it off. It was a good effort on the mound by all of our guys." — Bees manager Keith Johnson.

Angel Angle • Thursday's scheduled starter for the Bees, Daniel Wright, got promoted to L.A. before the start of Wednesday's game. Andrew Bailey went on the 10-day disabled list to pave the way for Wright's promotion.

What's next • The Bees continue their four-game set with Sacramento on Thursday. —
