Reno, Nev. • The Weber State women's basketball team stayed with the Big Sky champions throughout the game, but in the end top-seeded Montana State beat the Wildcats 65-53 Wednesday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky tournament.

Montana State led by one point after the first quarter, but Weber State started the second quarter on an 11-0 run to take a 10-point lead. The Bobcats responded with an 11-1 run of their own and the game was tied 31-31 at halftime.

Weber State trailed 54-53 with 1:27 left in the game, but Montana State closed the game on an 11-0 run, including a perfect 8 for 8 from the free-throw line down the stretch to seal the win.

Both teams struggled from the field as Montana State shot 33 percent and Weber State shot 32 percent. The Bobcats outrebounded the Wildcats 54-32 and had 22 second-chance points.

Kailie Quinn led Weber State (13-18) with 18 points, and she knocked down five 3-pointers. Deeshyra Thomas had 15 points with four steals and three assists and Emily Drake added 13 points with three 3-pointers, all coming in the first half. Dominique Williams had a team-high 12 rebounds.
