Mercedes Staples

Viewmont | Junior 18.1 ppg | 5.3 apg 3.1 rpg | 2.9 spg

Staples presents a difficult matchup. She's too quick for taller defenders and has the ability to knock down shots from the perimeter. She's taller for a guard, so shorter defenders aren't able to stop her from getting to the rim or backing down them. "Mercedes Staples is a great teammate. She loves to pass the ball up the floor and give her teammates an easy opportunity to score," Viewmont coach Clint Straatman wrote. "She understands the game and has a great feel for it. If we needed a bucket, she would go get it. If we needed a steal, she would get one. If we needed a big play, she would find a way to make it happen. She made it fun for her teammates to play."

Kaylee Carlsen

Sky View | Senior 15.3 ppg | 4.0 rpg 3.5 apg | 2.5 spg

Carlsen is a fantastic shooter, and many opponents quickly found out that. She averaged 16.6 points in the Bobcats' three state tournament games this season. "Kaylee did so many little things for us this year," Sky View coach Vanessa Hall wrote. "She can shoot the 3, but she also worked a lot on her ability to drive to the basket and finish with contact. Kaylee is a great rebounder. She just has a nose for the basketball. This year, our team played very unselfish and Kaylee was a big part of that. She took very smart shots, and if she didn't have the shot then she would look to find her teammates. So many times we focus on offense, but Kaylee was a very tough defender for us this year."

Mariah Martin

Alta | Senior 16.8 ppg | 4.8 rpg 6.8 apg | 4.7 spg

Martin did it all for the Hawks, who virtually were unstoppable during the regular season. Then she averaged 23.5 points in Alta's two state tournament games. "Her leadership within our program has led us through many victories," Alta coach Elizabeth Gustafson wrote. "Mariah can take charge of the basketball court, team huddles, small groups and the entire program with her presence. Her ability to connect with her squad, from the varsity team to the freshmen, is inspiring. Mariah is respected and looked up [to] by all members of our program. She is the go-to person if the team has a concern or question. She is our leader. ... Mariah helped glue us together this season."

Madison Grange

Skyline | Junior 16.4 ppg | 5.1 rpg 2.4 apg | 2.5 spg

Grange's combination of her height (5 foot 11) and athleticism was difficult for any defender to match. She played a huge role in Skyline's run to the Class 4A championship. "Madison worked really hard in the offseason to improve her game and her leadership abilities," Skyline coach Lynette Schroeder wrote. "It really paid off this season and showed in the way she performed. Madison's length forced a lot of turnovers on the defensive end, and her ability to shoot the ball caused teams difficulty when trying to guard her. As the tireless competitor that she is, she was a big factor in our team's success this year."

Vanessa Austin

Judge Memorial | Senior 14.4 ppg | 7.2 rpg 1.4 apg | 31 blocks

Austin was a dominate force in the interior for the Bulldogs, particularly in the postseason. She had a knack for chasing down offensive rebounds and contributing points. Also known for her competitiveness, she led Judge Memorial with her passion as well. "There will never be a player like Vanessa to come through Judge," Judge Memorial coach Paul Shiramizu wrote. "This season, despite being double teamed in many contests, we all became witness of 'V's' vastly improved overall game and leadership. Her ability to recognize defenses, keep the ball alive and kick out to open teammates had her account for over 30 of our team's points per game. And when Judge needed that crunch-time make, she was always there to deliver."
