Utah's gymnastics coaches reserve the right to tweak their lineups if they feel such action is necessary, but what fans are seeing now from the fifth-ranked Utes can be expected for the remainder of the season.

The Utes, who wrap up the regular season Saturday at Georgia, have made the last lineup adjustment by adding Shannon McNatt into the vaulting lineup.

McNatt earned a 9.75 in her first attempt two weeks ago and a 9.875 against Stanford on Friday. While the Utes have had some other consistent vaulters in the lineup, their vaults were worth only 9.9 while McNatt's half on, front pike is worth 10.0.

MaKenna Merrell and MyKayla Skinner are the only other two gymnasts with 10.0 vaults. Because of the start value of McNatt's vault, the Utes believe she has the potential to earn higher scores. She also gives the judges a different look because her vault isn't a Yurchenko, which is used by the others.

The Utes plan to continue to use Skinner in the fifth spot and McNatt in the final slot, Utah co-coach Megan Marsden said.

"MyKayla is going to hold her own anywhere," Marsden said. "Shannon has been working hard with that vault and we like that it is a different kind of vault so I don't think we are going to mess with the lineups at this point."

The Utes plan to use the same lineups in the post-season as well, beginning with the Pac-12 Championships March 18 at Stanford.

Coaching philosophy

Saturday's win over Stanford gave co-coach Tom Farden his 100th career win. His 100-56-1 record includes a 71-48 mark as the head coach at Southeast Missouri State (2004-09). Farden shrugged off the milestone as "just a number." Coaching at the collegiate level has a different demand than other levels, he said.

"I've always believed if you train them, keep them happy, healthy and hungry, the wins take care of themselves," he said. "At this level, you are coaching more side by side
