Decatur, Ga. • The Georgia State baseball team beat BYU 3-2 in 10 innings on Monday, scoring the winning run on an infield single.

The umpire ruled that Cougar first baseman Nate Favero pulled his foot off the bag on Payton Mann's grounder with runners on the corners and two outs, so the Panthers remained undefeated after their third game of the season while BYU fell to 1-2.

BYU took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Kyle Dean drove in a run with a single, and Brock Hale hit a double and eventually scored on Favero's sacrifice fly.

BYU starter Hayden Rogers held Georgia State to one run on six hits over four innings. Reliever Riley Gates took the loss, giving up one run on three hits over 22⁄3 innings.

Hale went 2 for 4 for BYU, which had five hits in the game.

Softball

Utah 6, Loyola Marymount 2 • In Long Beach, Calif., infielder Heather Bowen with 3 for 4 with three RBIs to lead the Utes over the Lions. Ally Dickman went 2 for 3 with an RBI as Utah improved to 8-0 on the season with the win.

Utah starter Katie Donovan (5-0) earned the win while giving up two runs on four hits over five innings, and Miranda Viramontes worked two perfect innings to earn the save.

Women's gymnastics

In Los Angeles, Utah State finished second in a three-way meet at UCLA. The host Bruins, ranked sixth in the nation, won the meet with a 195.875, while Utah State notched a 195.700, and Bridgeport had a 193.225.

The Aggies (6-5), who are tied for 24th nationally, did not have an individual event winner, but won the floor as a team with a 49.075, their third-highest score of the season. Sophomore Madison Ward placed third for the Aggies with a 9.875, while Katelyn Ohashi and Macy Toronjo each had a 9.900 for the Bruins (6-2) to tie for first.

Utah State's Hayley Sanzotti finished third on the balance beam with a 9.825.

"I am so pleased with my team and their composure and their confidence," said USU coach Nadalie Walsh. "They proved today that they can face any challenge and they can go one after the other and hit their routines."
