A look at standout performers and key numbers from Monday's opening round of the Class 5A girls' basketball state tournament at Salt Lake Community College.
Sierra McNicol
The Bingham senior forward scored 15 of her game-high 21 points in the first half, and her attacking offensive approach earned her 13 trips to the foul line.
Megan Carr
The Viewmont senior recorded a double-double to lead the Vikings to an overtime win over Riverton. She finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Emily Larsen
The Copper Hills sophomore nailed three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points. Her free throw down the stretch helped put the game out of reach, allowing the Grizzlies to advance.
Kylie Hale
Sky View's 5-foot-3 guard grabbed nine rebounds in the victory over Brighton. She also scored a game-high 18 points and snared five steals for the Bobcats.
Teuila Alofipo
The Davis junior led all scorers with 24 points, including 10 from the line. Alofipo was relentless throughout the game, disrupting plays and creating her own shots in the Darts' loss to American Fork.
Rachel Richards
The Lone Peak junior guard finished with 11 points, second-best for the Knights, including connecting on all four of her free-throw attempts. But she really shined at the point of the 1-3-1 defense. Lone Peak flustered West with an aggressive extension to half court, which Richards orchestrated with active hands and quick feet.
Sara Hamson
The Pleasant Grove senior center scored 12 points, none more important that her only basket of the fourth quarter – a 5-foot bank shot with 0.7 seconds left to give the Vikings the opening-round victory against Layton.
Haylee Doxey
The Fremont freshman hardly looked her age in her first postseason action. She started the first quarter with seven points and finished with 10 points — the second-most on the team — in the win over Taylorsville.

Point total for West junior Abena Bakenra, who was fantastic for the Panthers. She nearly single-handedly pulled her team back in the fourth quarter with nine points in the final eight minutes against Lone Peak.
