A look at four standout performers and three key numbers from Friday's Day 2 of the Class 5A state swimming meet at BYU.

Josh Ries

The Lone Peak junior won the 100-yard backstroke title to help the Knights win the team title. It was a bit of redemption for Ries, who finished second, four-hundreths of a second behind, in the event last year.

Alexa Walters

The Sky View senior went out on a winning note, claiming the 100 breaststroke title, which helped the Bobcats win the girls' team trophy.

Christian Simon

The Cottonwood junior followed his 50 freestyle victory Thursday by winning the 100 freestyle Friday for the Colts.

MJ Maile

The Viewmont junior earned gold in the 100 butterfly. But she won't have bragging rights in her house because her younger sister, Mariah, took first in the 100 freestyle less than 30 minutes later.

Total of boys'championships won by Lone Peak, and it came Friday when the Knights hoisted the trophy.

2

Number of girls' team titles won by Sky View since moving to 5A two years ago.

Amount of double-winners in individual events this year. Viewmont's Mariah Martin, Cottonwood's Rhyan White and Cottonwood's Christian Simon accomplished the feat.
