Each week, the TribPreps staff will choose standout performers and key numbers from the previous week's action in Utah and showcase them. Here are this week's picks.

Madison Grange

The junior is leading the third-ranked Skyline Eagles with 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals per game. She exploded for 22 points against arch-rival Olympus, but her week was highlighted by a half-court buzzer-beater at halftime in an eventual win against Judge Memorial. She finished with 15 points in that game.

Austin Jaramillo

The senior was clutch for Union in a win against Duchesne — one of the top-ranked teams in Class 1A. The Cougars have struggled this season, so it could have been easy to stumble in the game, but Jaramillo poured in 26 points, including connecting on three 3-pointers, and hit 11 of his 12 attempts from the free-throw line.

Emmanuel Akot

Because Akot plays for Wasatch Academy, an independent program, he sometimes flies under the radar when talking about local high school basketball. He certainly doesn't go unnoticed at the next level, however. He's easily one of the top players in the state, if not the best, and he recently dropped 22 points against Impact Academy, Calif. The Tigers are 17-3 this season.

16

Mountain View reeled off 16 points, including seven unanswered, in the final minutes in an upset win against top-ranked Alta. It was the Hawks' first defeat of the season. The Bruins' win is arguably the most significant victory in any classification this season.

60

The Desert Hills boys' basketball program had a tremendous week. The Thunder knocked off Hurricane and Snow Canyon by a combined 60 points. The Thunder defeated the Tigers 53-36 on the road before a massive 76-33 win against the Warriors on their home court.

9

Sky View displayed its depth in a win against Roy. Nine different Bobcats contributed to the box score, highlighted by Rachael Patty's 13 points. Hunter Krebs (11) and Kaylee Carlsen (10) also hit the double-figure plateau, as Sky View led 37-14 at halftime.
