Seattle • An usher had a question for Devon Daniels as he sauntered out of Alaska Airlines Arena on Saturday night: What year are you?

"I'm a freshman," Daniels said.

"You're a freshman?" replied the usher, clad in Washington purple. "I was hoping you were a senior."

Two freshmen had dazzled that evening on the court, but the difference between Huskies star Markelle Fultz and Daniels was that Utah's rookie was but one prong of his team's ruthlessly efficient attack.

Daniels notched a new career high of 24 points, but senior Lorenzo Bonam (24 points) and junior Kyle Kuzma (22 points) provided plenty of assistance as Utah (14-5, 5-2) rang up a 94-72 road win over Washington while shooting a season-high 60 percent.

The Utes pick-and-rolled their way to victory, torching the Huskies interior and outshining a 30-point night from Fultz, an expected top-five NBA Draft pick. There were moments when the super-frosh punched, igniting the home crowd of 8,895. But Utah absorbed the blows, answered with their own and emptied the bench to complete its first league road sweep of the season.

And they did it with junior David Collette — who entered the week as the team leader in scoring and shooting percentage — sitting at home after not passing concussion protocol for the second straight game.

"I'm really pleased — I just told that to our team," coach Larry Krystkowiak said after the Utes. "It's hard to go on the road, period, and you take your starters away. We got a contribution from our guys. Everybody chipped in five to 10 percent to make up for the 100 Dave would've [chipped in]."

Daniels and Bonam chipped in more than most.

The duo was particularly hard to stay in front of for Washington, shooting a combined 20 for 25 as they charged at the rim off screens. Even when forced to shoot from further away, they had their touch to hit all five of their 3-point attempts.

The Huskies were forced to go small for much of the game to try to keep up on defense. It didn't make much difference.

"I was just reading it," Daniels said. "If the big was sitting there too low, I would try to attack him. It worked."

When it didn't, the Utes were there to clean it up: They outscored one of the nation's best offensive rebounding teams 13-10 on second-chance points, many of them contributed by Kuzma in his 11th double-double of the season (15 rebounds).

Fultz finished 10 for 18 shooting with 30 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists, but only teammate David Crisp (14 points) also had double figures. UW's Noah Dickerson and Matthew Atewe was held to five combined points and eight combined rebounds.

"Me, Jayce and Ty did a great job," Kuzma said. "We all fought through some adversity, foul trouble with those guys."

From the start, the Utes were able to get the shots they wanted.

Utah hit its first four shots of the game, layups and jumpers near the rim. Washington was able to keep pace — for the first few minutes. But then Utah punched ahead with a 16-4 run powered by Bonam who had 13 points in the first 14 minutes of the game.

In the first half, Utah's guards burst off screens to lead the team to a 68-percent first-half shooting mark, racking up lay-up after lay-up. The Utes also hit 5 for 7 from long range in the first half.

Krystkowiak was pleased with the continued development of Daniels, who has found a consistent shot to go with his driving ability.

"He brings a physical nature from the three spot that we really haven't had in our program since we've been here," he said. "Once he gets going downhill, he's really hard to stop."

So are the Utes, who have hit 54 percent from the field or better in their past five games.
