Ogden • They're starting to look like each other these days and, on Saturday, Weber State guards Jeremy Senglin and Cody John were playing an awful lot like each other, too.

And that's good news for the Wildcats, since Senglin was an All-Big Sky selection last year.

Senglin did his usual damage, John scored a career-high 24 points and senior center Kyndahl Hill had a big game as Weber State held off Eastern Washington 70-67 at the Dee Events Center.

It was a match-up of the past two Big Sky conference tournament champions as the Eagles won in 2015 and Weber State grabbed the title a year ago.

"I put in a lot of work over the summer. Yeah, they [Wildcats' fans] should expect this from me more often," said John, a sophomore who hit a 3-pointer with 1:02 remaining to give Weber a 66-64 lead.

Eastern Washington (11-7, 3-2) then saw Hill get a monster block on Bogdan Bliznyuk's shot in the lane. The Eagles grabbed the offensive rebound, but Mason Peatling missed a 3-pointer with 27 seconds to go.

John then hit a pair of free throws with nine seconds remaining for a four-point margin.

The biggest problem all night for Weber State (9-6, 4-0) was Eastern Washington senior Jacob Wiley, who racked up 36 points. Wiley, with 1.6 seconds left, put back a teammate's miss and then hit an ensuing free throw to make the score 68-67.

But after a pair of free throws by Weber State's Dusty Baker, his only points of the game, Wiley missed a half-court try as the buzzer sounded. It was only one of five misses out of 20 attempts from the floor for Wiley.

The job of guarding Wiley fell mostly to Hill, who ended up with 15 points, 15 rebounds and three blocked shots.

"He was playing his tail off. He was an absolute warrior tonight," Weber State coach Randy Rahe said of Hill. "That big kid he's guarding is really, really good. We tried doubling him to help Kyndahl out, but that kid's just good."

Rahe said the Eagles' size at every position, and their control of the pace, caused the Wildcats trouble early.

"This is their best team in three or four years. They're so big and long, they've got size everywhere," Rahe said. "The way they played us, with their size and length, kind of threw us back on our heels and made us less aggressive.

"We needed to get to halftime and get back to playing aggressive and fast," he added.

Senglin ended up with 18 points, overcoming a first-half foot injurythat sent him to the locker room for a brief time.
