The overall record still looks good for the Utah Utes women's basketball team, but the conference mark is starting to take away some of the shine.

Utah (12-3, 1-3) lost its second straight Pac-12 home game in a Sunday afternoon game as visiting Arizona caught and passed the Utes in the second quarter and rolled to an 81-70 win at the Huntsman Center.

After losing to Arizona State Friday night, the Utes hoped their shooting would get back on track. But the marksmanship remained subpar and, worse, Utah saw the Wildcats' efficiency soar.

"We haven't given up 49 percent from the field this season for a game," Utes coach Lynne Roberts said. "Credit Arizona's players, they made plays, but we were reactionary the whole game."

Arizona (10-5, 1-3) got its first conference win behind LaBrittney Jones' 24 points. Destiny Graham and Malena Washington also scored 11 for the Wildcats, and Breanna Workman had 10.

One thing they all had in common was ease-of-access into the paint to get off good shots. The 'Cats shot 56 percent in the second quarter and then 64 percent in the third.

"It surprised me a little bit. We wanted to get inside, but it surprised me how we were able to get it so deep into the paint against [Emily] Potter," Arizona coach Adia Barnes said. "And I think foul trouble really affected her aggressiveness and it helped us a lot."

Potter, who finished with a dozen points, eventually fouled out with 7:10 remaining in the contest.

The Utes were also without backup center Joeseta Fatuesi, who is expected to be out at least two weeks to a torn meniscus.

"I think the bigs [for Arizona], they could attack, and that's something we hadn't really seen yet — and we didn't really respond well," said Utah senior Paige Crozon, who finished with a team-high 19 points.

Sunday's game at least started out better for Utah than the Friday night affair against Arizona State, in which the Utes fell behind by 17 points, 20-3, in the first quarter.

Against the Wildcats, Utah pulled out to a quick 8-2 advantage, but it was Arizona that proved to be resilient.

In the second period, a score by Potter put Utah up 25-23 just before the 'Cats broke loose for nine straight points and a 32-25 lead.

Utah rebounded with a bucket by Crozon and a three-point play from Kiana Moore to trim the deficit to three points, but Arizona then scored seven in a row in retaliation.

"We got down in that second quarter and it was kind of a dogfight to get back the rest of the game," Crozon said. "We just couldn't quite get the momentum back enough to win."

Next weekend, Utah will have the home-court advantage once again in hosting Stanford on Friday and California on Sunday.

"It didn't help us out much this weekend," Roberts noted.

"We don't have time right now to discuss all the ways we've got to get better," the Utah coach said. "Our players — I love them all, but our attention to detail is poor. And, if you want to win in this conference, it has to be great." —
