Durham, N.C. • Freshman Jayson Tatum matched a season high with 22 points, and No. 8 Duke held on to beat Boston College 93-82 on Saturday in Jeff Capel's season debut as the temporary replacement for Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski (back surgery).

Grayson Allen had 12 points and 11 assists for Duke. Frank Jackson, a freshman out of Lone Peak High, scored 15 points for the Blue Devils (14-2, 2-1 ACC), who blew most of a 25-point lead against BC (8-8, 1-2).

No. 1 Villanova 93, Marquette 81 • In Philadelphia, Kris Jenkins scored 23 and the Wildcats (15-1, 3-1 Big East) bounced back from their first loss with the win over Marquette (10-5, 1-2).

No. 2 Baylor 61, Oklahoma State 57 • In Waco, Texas, Manu Lecomte scored 17 points, and Baylor (15-0, 3-0 Big 12) closed in on the school's first No. 1 ranking with a win over the Cowboys (10-5, 0-3) that left the Bears as one of two unbeaten teams in the nation.

No. 3 Kansas 85, Texas Tech 68 • In Lawrence, Kan., Frank Mason III scored 26 points, and Kansas (14-1, 3-0 Big 12) used a 12-0 second-half run to put away the Red Raiders (12-3, 1-2).

No. 6 Kentucky 97, Arkansas 71 • In Lexington, Ky., De'Aaron Fox scored 27 points and the Wildcats (13-2, 3-0 SEC) pulled away to beat the Razorbacks (12-3, 1-2) in a sometimes-chippy game.

No. 7 West Virginia 82, TCU 70 • In Morgantown, W.Va., Daxter Miles Jr. scored 22 points and the Mountaineers (13-2, 2-1) used a late burst to improve to 10-0 against the Frogs (12-3, 1-2) since the schools joined the Big 12.

No. 9 Louisville 65, Georgia Tech 50 • In Atlanta, Donovan Mitchell scored 20 points to lead the Cardinals (13-3, 1-2) over the Yellow Jackets (9-6, 1-2).

No. 10 Creighton 78, Providence 64 • In Providence, R.I., Justin Patton had 20 points and the Bluejays (15-1, 3-1 Big East), never trailed the Friars (11-6, 1-3).

No. 12 Florida St. 93, No. 21 Virginia Tech 78 • In Tallahassee, Fla., Terance Mann scored 22 points and the Seminoles (15-1, 3-0 ACC) beat the Hokies (12-3, 1-2) to match the 1988-89 team for best start in school history.

No. 16 Xavier 97, St. John's 82 • In Cincinnati, Edmond Sumner had 20 points as Xavier (13-2, 3-0) topped the Red Storm (8-8, 2-1) to remain alone atop the Big East.

No. 18 Butler 85, Georgetown 76, OT • In Washington, Kamar Baldwin scored 16 points and the Bulldogs (14-2, 3-1 Big East) followed their upset of No. 1 Villanova with an overtime victory over the Hoyas (8-8, 0-4).

No. 23 Notre Dame 75, Clemson 70 • In South Bend, Ind., V.J. Beachem scored 22 points and the Irish (14-2, 3-0) remained undefeated in the ACC with a victory over the Tigers (11-4, 1-2).

No. 24 Florida 83, Tennessee 70 • In Gainesville, Fla., KeVaughn Allen connected on four 3-pointers in the final 7:34 and scored 23 points to send the Gators (12-3, 3-0 SEC) over the Vols (8-7, 1-2).

No. 25 Indiana 96, Illinois 80 • In Indianapolis, James Blackmon Jr. scored 25 points and the Hoosiers (11-5, 1-2) defeated Illinois (11-5, 1-2) for their first Big Ten Conference win of the season. —
