Logan • Basketball games between in-state schools are always a highlight of the college season in Utah.

Weber State and Utah State play Wednesday night at the Spectrum in one of the few that remain this year. Tipoff is 7 p.m.

The Wildcats and Aggies will battle for the 69th time in the series dating back to 1914. Utah State is seeking its fourth straight win, and ninth in the last 10 games. Only four of the last 17 games, however, have been decided by more than 10 points.

The Aggies are 6-4 so far, including consecutive victories over Great Falls (84-51), Utah Valley (80-79 in overtime) and New Orleans (76-66).

Utah State's Jalen Moore, who has scored at least 10 points in 23 straight games, says the Weber State game is "huge" for the Aggies as they head into Mountain West Conference play next week.

"They just beat UVU [and] scored 90 points," Moore said. "We can't let them come in here and score 90 points. We have to be solid. We have to rebound. It's going to be a physical game. Every in-state game is physical. … We have to protect our home court."

Moore is a senior forward from Sky View High School. This will be his last game against an in-state opponent, barring some kind of postseason tournament matchup.

"It's cool that it's at home — it's nice to do it at home," Moore said. "… Four years went by super-fast. It's crazy. [But] it's going to be tough. They're not going to come in here and lay down for us. We have to play hard, play with effort, play with confidence."

The game will be Utah State's third of the season against an in-state rival.

On Dec. 10 at the UCCU Center in Orem, the Aggies edged UVU in front of 6,792 fans.

On Nov. 30 at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake, a crowd of 12,187 watched BYU claim a 77-63 victory.

Senior guard Jeremy Senglin leads Weber State and will be the primary target of Utah State's defense. He averages 18.7 points per game.

"We have to try and limit him," said Aggie freshman Koby McEwen.

Added Moore, "He can take over games. He can win games for them."

Weber State is 4-6 so far, but the 'Cats it could easily be better. They are 0-3 in games decided by one or two points, including losses to Denver (57-55), Buffalo (74-72) and Pepperdine (79-78).
