Alamosa, Colo, • Zerrion Payton led Westminster to an 83-74 victory over Adams State on Friday night in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game.

Westminster (4-3, 4-1 RMAC) had five players score in double digits; Payton scored 17 points, followed by Travis Devashrayee with 16 points, Casey Evans (15), Jared Laws (12) and Marcus Bryce (10).

The Griffins had an early 7-0 run to take a 9-6 lead and didn't trail for the remainder of the game.

Women's basketball

Grand Canyon 76, Southern Utah 73 • In Cedar City, the Thunderbirds (5-6) fell to the Antelopes, extending their losing skid to six straight games. The T-birds pulled within one point, at 74-73 with 8 seconds left, but the Lopes held on to win.

Westminster 84, Adams State 75 • In Alamosa, Colorado, the Griffins recovered from a slow start to win against the Grizzlies (1-8, 0-6 RMAC). Sydnee Taylor led Westminster (5-4, 3-2 RMAC) with 18 points.
