The Jazz are on a roll. So is Shelvin Mack.

Mack scored 15 points, handed out five assists and grabbed five rebounds in 29 minutes Wednesday night to help the Jazz bury Oklahoma City, 109-89.

Mack scored 11 points in the first half, when Utah took command and built a 55-41 lead.

"Shelvin has been doing that for us," Jazz coach Quin Snyder said. "I think, when he comes into the game with that [second] group, a lot of times his ability to attack gives us a lift offensively."

For Mack, it was the fourth time in five games he's reached double figures.

"Just trying to come out and be aggressive," he said. "… Move the ball. Don't try to do too much. Swing the ball and get their bigs moving around."

On defense, Mack helped hold Russell Westbrook to 7-for-25 shooting.

"He was tenacious defensively," Snyder said. "Usually for him, the offense evolves from his defense. … The defensive part is the part we need.

Westbrook finished with 27 points, but he did not have his usual impact. He managed only three points in the first 21 minutes of the game.

As a team, Oklahoma City scored 17 points below its season average of 106, and Westbrook handed out only five assists.

"I watched a lot of film and tried to look at his tendencies," Mack said. "Mostly, I just tried to compete. That was the main thing. But I also tried not to foul him. He gets a lot of calls. … He gets a lot of calls in transition when he's going full speed and running into guys."

Mack entered the game for the first time with 5:58 remaining in the opening quarter. The Jazz owned a 15-12 lead but quickly went on an 11-2 run, startig with a 20-footer by Mack.

During the 4 1/2-minute stretch, Oklahoma City converted only one of eight possessions. Westbrook missed one shot and committed one of his five turnovers.

"When he plays like that, man, it adds [a lot] to our team," Rodney Hood said of Mack. "… He's a veteran guy who knows how to play. He knows how to score and get guys the ball. The best thing he does is he has everybody organized. And defensively, he was aggressive. It's been great."
