Reno, Nev. • Another game, another agonizing loss.

So it goes for Utah State.

This time, Nevada quarterback Ty Gangi scored on a 6-yard run with five seconds remaining Saturday, lifting the Wolf Pack to a 38-37 victory over the Aggies.

Utah State (3-8, 1-7 Mountain West) lost its fourth straight game — which hadn't happened since 2008 — after squandering a 13-point lead in the final seven minutes. Four of Utah State's league losses have come by a combined total of 18 points.

Nevada's comeback began with seven minutes left. The Aggies owned a 37-24 lead and forced the Wolf Pack to punt.

Usually reliable Andrew Rodriguez fumbled the ball into the end zone. Nevada recovered for a touchdown, narrowing Utah State's lead to 37-31.

On its next possession, Utah State failed to pick up a first down and kicked the ball back to the Wolf Pack, who drove inside the Aggie five with two minutes remaining.

It appeared Utah State iced a victory when it stuffed Nevada on fourth down at the five, but the Aggie offense again failed to move.

Out of timeouts, Nevada regained possession at its 49 with two minutes left and, once again, marched inside the Utah State 10.

The Aggie defense came within one play of preserving the victory but, on fourth down at the six, Gangi rolled out and scored the tying touchdown. When Spencer Pettit kicked the extra point, the Aggies' season filled with hard-to-digest defeats continued.

Another key to the outcome?

Utah State settled for 20- and 22-yard field goals by freshman Dominik Eberle in the second half, when touchdowns might have put Nevada into an inescapable hole.

Nevada took its only lead until the final seconds when Pettit kicked a 35-yard field goal in the first quarter.

Utah State responded on its next possession. On third-and-three at the Aggie 27, Myers hit tight end Wyatt Houston for 17 yards and a first down. Three plays later, Myers ran 37 yards for a touchdown.

Early in the second quarter, the Aggies moved to the Nevada 30. Two plays lost eight yards, however, so Myers' 12-yard pass to Gerold Bright only moved Utah State into field-goal range.

Coach Matt Wells turned to Eberle for the 43-yard attempt and the newcomer from Redondo Beach, Calif., nailed the first field goal of his career to give the Aggies a 10-3 lead.

Utah State extended its lead to 17-3 with 5:25 left in the half when Myers ran two yards for another score.

The Aggies missed a chance to take control at halftime when Nevada drove 81 yards in 10 plays on its next possession. Gangi passed one yard to Wyatt Demps with 38 seconds left in the half to narrow Utah State's lead to 17-10.

Utah State will finish the season on Saturday, against BYU at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo at 8:30 p.m. The television assignment for the game has not been announced. —
