Fremont football coach Kory Bosgieter doesn't mind meeting Bingham in the state playoffs, something the Silver Wolves have done five times since 2007.

He respects the Miners' coaching staff and enjoys the games.

But, after losing for the fourth time in five tries during that time period, the veteran Fremont coach would likely change one thing.

"I just wish that we might have a little more lead in our behinds one of these years," he smiled after Fremont dropped a 35-12 Class 5A decision to the Miners on Thursday at Rice-Eccles Stadium. "We need to be a little heavier."

While many Fremont athletes play both offense and defense, Bingham's depth has the capability of wearing teams down, something Bosgieter, quarterback Saxton Morby and star receiver Haze Hadley all said was a factor in what was a tight game for about a half.

"They are big and they are deep," said Bosgieter. "See how many of our guys go both ways. Credit our kids for fighting."

Hadley, who caught 13 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown, offered similar sentiments.

"What I like so much about this team is we just kept fighting," he said. "But they are a pound, pound team. They are great at what they do."

Morby passed for 223 yards and a touchdown and led Fremont to a game-opening scoring drive that served notice to the Miners that they were in for a game.

"They've got a lot of players," he said. "They are big and wore us down a lot…Some of us might have been a skeptical. These guys are Bingham and we know how good they are. But once we got that first score, we realized they were just high school kids."

Bosgieter said his team would have needed to play a near-perfect game to upset the unbeaten Miners but that the Silver Wolves left too many points on the field.

And, perhaps, they simply didn't have quite enough lead in their behinds.
