Each Monday, we'll recap notable performances from local BYU, Utes, USU and SUU alumni in the NFL. Here's what stood out from week seven:
Best of the week: Sorensen scores first career touchdown. Wagner strong on defense, blocks a field goal
Former BYU safety Daniel Sorensen scored his first career NFL touchdown for the Chiefs on a 48-yard pick six and added a sack and six tackles in a win over the Saints. Former Utah State linebacker Bobby Wagner played 94 snaps for the Seahawks in a tie with the Cardinals, racking up 12 tackles, an assist and a blocked field goal.
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers
• Bears LS Patrick Scales (Utah State) played seven special teams snaps.
• Packers LB Kyler Fackrell (Utah State) played 10 defensive snaps and 16 special teams snaps.
• Packers safety Marwin Evans (Utah State) played 14 special teams snaps.
Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles
• Vikings RB Matt Asiata (Utah) had 11 carries for 43 yards and one reception for five yards in 57 offensive snaps and 10 special teams snaps.
Oakland Raiders at Jacksonville Jaguars
• Raiders CB Sean Smith (Utah) had four tackles in all 67 defensive snaps.
• Raiders safety Keith McGill (Utah) played four defensive snaps and 25 special teams snaps.
• Raiders LT Donald Penn (Utah State) played all 72 offensive snaps.
Baltimore Ravens at New York Jets
• Ravens TE Dennis Pitta (BYU) had four receptions for 40 yards on 45 offensive snaps.
• Ravens safety Eric Weddle (Utah) had three tackles and seven assists in all 68 defensive snaps.
• Ravens CB Will Davis (Utah State) played five defensive snaps and one special teams snap.
• Ravens CB Robertson Daniel (BYU) played 19 special teams snaps.
New England Patriots at Pittsburgh Steelers
• Patriots CB Eric Rowe (Utah) had five tackles and an assist in all 73 defensive snaps and two special teams snaps.
Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins
• Dolphins LS John Denney (BYU) played 10 special teams snaps.
Los Angeles Rams vs. New York Giants (London)
• Rams safety Maurice Alexander (Utah State) had four tackles in 56 defensive snaps and four special teams snaps.
Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans
• Titans CB Brice McCain (Utah) had three tackles in 51 defensive snaps and 10 special teams snaps.
• Titans CB LeShaun Sims (Southern Utah) played 21 special teams snaps.
• Colts RB Robert Turbin (Utah State) had two carries for three yards and one reception for 19 yards in 11 offensive snaps and 12 special teams snaps.
New Orleans Saints at Kansas City Chiefs
• Chiefs QB Alex Smith (Utah) completed 17 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed four times for seven yards in 52 offensive snaps.
• Chiefs safety Daniel Sorensen (BYU) had a 48-yard interception return for a touchdown, a sack and six tackles in 43 defensive snaps and 20 special teams snaps.
• Saints DE Paul Kruger (Utah) had one tackle in 17 defensive snaps and six special teams snaps.
Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals
• Bengals LB Nick Vigil (Utah State) played one defensive snap and 16 special teams snaps.
Washington at Detroit Lions
• Lions DE Ezekiel Ansah (BYU) had one tackle and an assist in 41 defensive snaps.
• Lions LB Kyle Van Noy (BYU) had two tackles and an assist in 36 defensive snaps and 17 special teams snaps.
• Lions CB Nevin Lawson (Utah State) had five tackles and an assist in 63 defensive snaps and nine special teams snaps.
• Lions safety Miles Killebrew (Southern Utah) had a tackle assist in 10 defensive snaps and 13 special teams snaps.
San Diego Chargers at Atlanta Falcons
• Chargers DT Tenny Palepoi (Utah) had a tackle and an assist in 35 defensive snaps and 15 special teams snaps.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Francisco 49ers
• 49ers LG Zane Beadles (Utah) recovered a fumble and played all 70 offensive snaps and three special teams snaps.
Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals
• Seahawks LB Bobby Wagner (Utah State) had 12 tackles, an assist and a blocked field goal in 94 defensive snaps and eight special teams snaps.
• Seahawks DT Sealver Siliga (Utah) had one tackle in 23 defensive snaps.
• Cardinals RB Kerwynn Williams (Utah State) played 14 special teams snaps.
