Pleasant View • Only one loss has kept the Weber Warriors volleyball team from being perfect in region and, you might say, that one little thing was much on the mind of the home team Tuesday night.

Weber stayed even with Sky View at the top of Region 1 by avenging that defeat and beating Northridge 22-25, 25-21, 25-12, 21-25, 15-12.

"We want this bad. We all have the drive and want to win," said Weber junior Kenzie Done after the win. "Sometimes you have mental breakdowns, and that last game we didn't really have ourselves together."

The first time the teams played, Northridge won in four.

This time, Northridge (8-9, 6-5) had to fight to get the match into a deciding fifth set.

In that final set, Weber (16-4, 8-1) seemed destined for a lopsided win to close the deal — rolling out to a 12-5 lead. But the Knights roared back and trailed 13-10 after two blocks and a kill by Alo Thompson, who led Northridge with 20 kills.

But Warriors' outside Emily Jones hit a dink shot to push Weber to match point. After another Thompson kill, and a block by Taylor Buck, Weber finally clinched on a kill by middle Bridget Triplett.

Triplett led all players with 21 kills while Lizzie Peterson scored a dozen for the Warriors.

The catalyst for Weber's offense not only in the fifth set, but in the second as well, was the team's blocking.

The Knights held an 11-7 lead in the second when Done crashed into the right net standard trying to get a ball. Done then scored her team's next three points, two on blocks, as Weber went on a 7-1 run to gain control of that set.

"I looked at the bench and said, 'Our blocking is keeping us in this,'" Weber coach Erica Nish said, whose team was paced in that category by Lindsey Edwards' five stuffs. "We practiced our blocking yesterday because Northridge has a pretty big block."

Both teams stumbled a little heading into this week.

Northridge fell unexpectedly to Clearfield in a region game last week, while Weber dropped its last pair of matches at a tournament in Bonneville over the weekend.

"We had our feathers ruffled a little bit, so we just had to come back and get our mental game back," said Nish, whose team will play at Sky View next week in a battle for the top of the region standings. —
