Midway • Lone Peak continued its dominance of Utah high school boys' golf Tuesday on at the Soldier Hollow Gold Course by winning its fourth straight championship.

Elijah Turner, Tyler Jones, Josh Rooker and Max Brenchley all shot in the 60s to lead the Knights to a score of 552 to beat second-place Sky View by 29 strokes. Davis finished third, one shot behind Sky View.

Weber junior Connor Howe defended his 5A medalist title by scoring a birdie on the first playoff hole to beat Lone Peak's Turner.

In Class 4A, Salem Hills earned a come-from-behind victory over Bonneville and Box Elder to claim its first ever golf state title. Skyline senior Blake Tomlinson won medalist honors with a second-day score of 71.

Lone Peak broke the single-day scoring record by four shots and the two-day total by one. Its four top scorers finished in the top six individually.

The Knights led Davis by nine strokes going into the final round on the par-72 course.

But Brenchley recorded a 66, Rooker a 67 and Jones and Turner both 68s as the Knights walked away with it.

The only drama left was a playoff for medalist honors between Turner and Weber's Howe, who finished with a two-day total of 138.

"The weather was nice. Wind was not a factor," said Howe, who fired a six-under 66 Tuesday. "I was hitting the ball well and giving myself good looks for birdies. Winning twice is plenty, but I will try to win it next year."

Turner said he missed some putts down the stretch, but could not have been more happy with the day overall.

Lone Peak coach Rob Stanger said he tries to prepare his players for college golf by teaching them to execute shots under different conditions.

"We got perfect conditions today," he said. "It was a soft golf course with little wind. After yesterday, they were frustrated with their first nine holes, but played a great back nine. That carried over today."

In 4A, Tomlinson said he didn't putt as well. But his 71 was good enough for a two-shot win over Timpview's Spencer Lillywhite.

"I just knew I couldn't blow up and I didn't," said the Eagle star. "I had a long downhill putt on 15 for a par. I would have been a little mad if I missed it, but I rolled it in."

Brock Nielsen's two-day total of 147 led Salem Hills to its surprise title. The team also got good rounds from Steve Barton and Jaden Parkinson.

"I knew we had a shot," said Salem Hills coach Brad Fillmore, whose team did not make the cut a year ago. "Box Elder was tough, but we had a couple of great performances. … We were last five years ago."

Class 5A golfers Keanu Akina of Pleasant Grove and Bracken Spencer of Syracuse made their 5A tournaments memorable by each recording a hole-in-one on the Silver Course.

The state boys' golf tournaments continue Wednesday and Thursday at Soldier Hollow. Park City will defend its 3A title on the Silver Course, while Grand will attempt to repeat as 2A champions on the Gold Course.
