Kaysville • There was no elaborate celebration or gold-and-brown confetti. The Darts weren't posing for photos or screaming joy from the top of their lungs. Tuesday's 13-0 victory against Hunter was simply another win to them.

But to everyone else, this win was memorable. It was the 37th straight for the nation's top-ranked program — the most consecutive wins in UHSAA history.

"It feels really good," said Davis coach Souli Phongsavath. "It's an honor to be associated with such a great group of girls."

The previous record of 36 consecutive wins was established by Alta from 2002-03. The Darts can also claim the longest undefeated streak by finishing the regular season and the opening round of the playoffs without a loss. The current record is Mountain View's 40-game stretch set from 2000-02.

"It's so exciting," said Olivia Wade, who scored three goals against the Wolverines to bump her total to 31 on the season. "I'm super proud of everybody. Everyone has worked so hard. I'm super impressed. I feel like we deserve this."

Davis has remaining games at Syracuse, at Viewmont and against Layton. The Darts beat those three programs by a collective score of 9-2 already this season.

"It didn't really come to my mind until it's been more relevant to us as we've gotten closer and closer," said Mikayla Colohan. "The past few games, it's definitely been in the back of our head. We've been looking forward to breaking the record. It's great. It's a cool feeling. It's cool to know nobody else has done it before."

The streak started 718 days ago following a season-ending loss against Weber on Oct. 10, 2014. The defeat, however, did not deter the Darts, who four weeks later captured the program's first state championship since 1995.

The following season, with nine college-bound players, Davis completed a historic 20-0 campaign that culminated with another Class 5A title and the mythical national championship awarded by USA Today.

The Darts (13-0, 9-0) have outscored their opponents 220-13 during the 37-game stretch — an average margin of victory exceeding five goals per game.

Tuesday's win was an absolute clinic. Hunter (1-8-4, 0-7-2) did not attempt a single shot, while Colohan and Wade each registered a hat trick in the first half, which ended with the Darts ahead 9-0. Zoe Jacobs added two goals, as did Kate McMaster. Alexa Maple, Olivia Griffin and goalkeeper Kendyl Baker, who booted a penalty kick, each found the back of the net once.

But as Phongsavath explained, 37 is simply another game. The number the Darts are pursuing is three, as they're attempting to become only the third program to win three straight state championships, joining Alta, which won four consecutive titles from 2006-09, and Mountain View, which captured three in a row from 2000-02.

"We'll look back on it after the season and think about it, but right now we've got to stay focused," Phongsavath said. "We would rather win the state championship and not have this record than the other way around. We have a lot of unfinished business."
