Hurricane • PGA Tour member Zac Blair made a 50-foot eagle putt on No. 17 to force a playoff, then won the Sand Hollow Open on the first extra hole Saturday.

Blair, the defending champion, closed with a 7-under-par 65 for a total of 14-under 202 and defeated Colorado pro Jim Knous in the playoff at Sand Hollow Resort. Knous posted a 66, parring the last seven holes.

Blair, a former Fremont High School and BYU golfer who lives in St. George, earned $18,000 for the victory after making more than $900,000 in the 2015-16 PGA Tour season. He donated $5,000 to Utah Foster Care, the tournament charity, organizers said. The Sand Hollow staff and The Leavitt Group sponsor have asked Blair to play in the tournament the past two years.

Web.com Tour golfer Kurt Kitayama finished third, two strokes behind Blair and Knous. Utah golfers Joe Parkinson and Stuart Gold and Utah Open champion Zahkai Brown were among seven players who tied for sixth place at 208.
